UIU Hosts Workshop on Research and Writing to Boost Skills
United International University recently hosted the first session of a special workshop focused on research and writing skills. Jointly organized by campus bodies, the event featured prominent novelists, researchers, and academic lecturers as speakers.
A special educational event titled 'Workshop on Research and Writing (Session 01)' was successfully held at United International University (UIU), located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The academic workshop took place on 03 September 2026, bringing together a large number of students and faculty members to focus on enhancing essential research and literary composition techniques within the modern academic and professional landscape.
The institution-level event was organized jointly by two prominent campus entities: the UIU Literature and Writers Forum and the Directorate of Career Counseling and Student Affairs. This collaborative initiative was designed to provide students with comprehensive guidance, practical insights, and foundational knowledge necessary for excelling in both academic research and creative writing endeavors.
Several distinguished personalities participated in the academic program as keynote speakers. Among the notable figures present at the venue were novelist and journalist Rahitul Islam, Md. Omar Faruque who serves as a Research Assistant at the University of Southern Queensland, and Ajwad Abrar, a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT).
During the interactive sessions, novelist and journalist Rahitul Islam shared his perspective with the attending students. He stated that writing is not a complicated or distant subject, emphasizing that the small stories, struggles, and dreams of our daily lives are actually the true elements of literature. He added that in the digital age, the power of words is immense, and if one can courageously highlight their own experiences and societal reality, that very story can become a tool for positive change.
Adding an institutional perspective, Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Shafiul Islam noted the broader significance of the gathering. He stated that this type of initiative will play an important role in helping students go beyond their regular academic studies to develop new ways of thinking and foster their creative expression capabilities.
The workshop concluded with participants expressing enthusiasm for the practical knowledge shared by the speakers. Organizers from United International University indicated that future sessions under this ongoing program are planned to further support the academic and creative development of the student body.
