Tarique Rahman Inaugurates New Neurosciences Hospital Building
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has inaugurated the 500-bed second building of the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Agargaon, Dhaka. During the ceremony, he emphasized the importance of mutual trust and respect between medical professionals, patients, and families.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated the newly constructed 500-bed second building of the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital on Saturday, August 13. The high-profile inaugural event took place in Agargaon, Dhaka, marking a significant expansion of specialized medical infrastructure within the country's capital city.
The newly opened facility adds a substantial 500 beds to the existing capacity of the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, significantly enhancing its ability to treat patients suffering from neurological disorders. This major healthcare development falls under the purview of government health initiatives supported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Social Welfare.
During the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed the gathering and highlighted the delicate dynamics of modern healthcare delivery. He stated that ensuring a smooth medical environment is not solely the responsibility of physicians. He emphasized that maintaining a relationship of mutual trust, respect, and empathy among doctors, patients, and patients' relatives is absolutely essential.
In addition to addressing the medical environment, the Prime Minister turned his focus toward the younger population and the future of the nation. Remarking that today's children represent the future of tomorrow, he stated that paying special attention to children's education and health is the responsibility and duty of everyone in pursuit of building a healthy future.
Looking ahead at further healthcare expansions across the country, it was announced that five specialized 200-bed children's hospitals are scheduled to open simultaneously in October. These upcoming facilities will be located in Khulna, Barishal, Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Cumilla, broadening pediatric healthcare access beyond the capital.
The inaugural event in Agargaon was attended by several prominent figures, including Dr. Zubaida Rahman, Sarder Sakhawat Hossain Bokul, and Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain. Their presence underscored the cooperative national effort involving medical administration and government leadership to advance the health sector.
