In a significant political development within the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir announced on Friday, August 14, 2024, that today marks his final day of fulfilling responsibilities as the general secretary of the organization in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The announcement regarding his departure from the post follows a crucial meeting held on the preceding night. On Thursday, August 13, 2024, the top five leaders of Chhatra Dal visited the political office of the BNP chairman located in Gulshan, Dhaka, where they held a farewell meeting with BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Reflecting on his departure from the leadership role, outgoing general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir shared a poignant sentiment regarding his ongoing commitment to the organization. Expressing his deep connection to the movement, he stated, "পদ থেকে বিদায় নেওয়া যায়; আদর্শ থেকে নয়, ভালোবাসা থেকে নয়, সহযোদ্ধাদের কাছ থেকে নয়," which translates to indicating that while one can step down from a position, there is no parting from ideology, love, or fellow fighters.
The leadership tenure of the current committee began earlier in the year on March 1, 2024, when Rakibul Islam Rakib assumed the role of president and Nasir Uddin Nasir took charge as the general secretary, forming the initial partial committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
Following the initial formation, the organizational structure expanded significantly over the subsequent months. On June 15, 2024, a comprehensive 260-member full committee was officially announced through an official notification bearing the signature of BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
