LGED Holds Development Meeting in Agargaon to Discuss Rural Infrastructure

A development discussion meeting organized by the Local Government Engineering Department took place on Saturday, 19 September, at the LGED Building Auditorium located in Agargaon. The event brought together key officials and ministry leadership to deliberate on infrastructure development, resource management, and administrative responsibilities across the nation's administrative divisions, which encompass 64 districts and 503 upazilas, building upon foundations laid 35 years ago.
Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Minister for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, attended the high-profile gathering as the chief guest. Addressing the assembled officials, he underscored the critical role that department personnel play in driving regional growth, stating that the keys to the development of rural infrastructure and settlements across Bangladesh are literally in the hands of the officers in this room. He further cautioned that if those keys are turned in the right direction, development will happen, but if turned in the wrong direction, development will stop.
Emphasizing fiscal prudence and accountability in public service, the minister stated that the country's resources are limited and must be utilized properly. He noted that government officials, acting as custodians of public wealth, must carry out their duties responsibly. Expanding on this point, he added that even if a specific project requires 10 million taka to execute, officials must consider how to implement it at a lower cost, reinforcing that protecting and properly utilizing public assets is fundamentally their responsibility.
The official session was presided over by Md. Belal Hossain, Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department. His leadership of the meeting set the tone for detailed administrative discussions regarding the execution of upcoming rural projects and the strategic alignment of engineering initiatives with the broader mandates of the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry.
