Rashed Khan Declared Dhaka University Central Students' Union GS
The Dhaka University syndicate has declared Rashed Khan as the General Secretary of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union. This decision follows the cancellation of the student status of former General Secretary Golam Rabbani.

On August 31, 2026, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, significant developments unfolded regarding the leadership of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union, commonly known as Daksu. The Dhaka University syndicate officially declared Rashed Khan as the General Secretary (GS) of Daksu. This administrative decision emerged after the student status of the former General Secretary, Golam Rabbani, was officially cancelled by the university authorities.
The cancellation of Golam Rabbani's student status occurred after an investigation committee, formed by the university, proved that the MPhil student status of the former Bangladesh Chhatra League leader was illegal. Furthermore, Golam Rabbani failed to provide a satisfactory response to a show-cause notice issued by the Dhaka University syndicate. Consequently, this led to the cancellation of his student status during a meeting of the academic council, which ultimately resulted in the nullification of his Daksu position.
Reflecting on these events and his newly announced position, Rashed Khan made a detailed statement expressing his gratitude and explaining the context. He stated, 'Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah. As the MPhil student status of former banned Chhatra League general secretary Golam Rabbani has been proven illegal by a university-formed investigation committee, and as he failed to give a proper reply to the show-cause notice by the syndicate, his student status has been cancelled in the academic council meeting. In this context, his Daksu post has been cancelled, and the Dhaka University syndicate has declared Md. Rashed Khan, who received the second-highest votes in the 2019 Daksu election, as the GS.'
Historical context from the 2019 Daksu elections highlights the vote counts and positions from that prior contest. During the 2019 Daksu elections, Golam Rabbani had secured the GS position by receiving 10,484 votes. Meanwhile, Rashed Khan had secured the second position in the same GS race by obtaining 6,063 votes. Additionally, the 2019 elections featured Nurul Haq Nur securing 11,062 votes for the Vice President (VP) position, while Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon obtained 9,129 votes for the VP position.
Beyond his involvement with student politics and the Daksu leadership transition, Rashed Khan currently maintains active professional responsibilities. Confirmed records indicate that Rashed Khan is currently working as the political assistant to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. This latest declaration by the Dhaka University syndicate officially brings Rashed Khan into the General Secretary role following the removal of Golam Rabbani.
