Chittagong City Corporation Fines Coaching Centers Over Illegal Banners
Chittagong City Corporation has launched a crackdown to remove unauthorized banners and posters across the city. Authorities fined two coaching centers for violating municipal regulations during the August operations.
In an effort to preserve the aesthetic appeal of the municipality, the Chittagong City Corporation has carried out a targeted enforcement operation directed at removing unauthorized banners and posters scattered throughout the urban area. Municipal authorities stepped up their regulatory oversight to tackle the proliferation of unapproved promotional materials that have increasingly cluttered public spaces within the port city.
During the course of the latest operation conducted on August 16, 2026, enforcement teams cracked down on violations within the jurisdiction of the municipal corporation's Zone-3. The field drive was personally spearheaded and executed by Zubaida Akhtar, who serves in the official capacity of the Regional Executive Officer for the Chittagong City Corporation.
As a direct consequence of the unauthorized display of promotional posters and banners, the municipal administration targeted specific violators operating within the education sector. Consequently, the governing body imposed financial penalties and fines on two distinct private educational establishments, identified specifically as 'Aspiring Bangladesh' and 'Munna Sir' coaching center.
Following the punitive action taken by the municipal authorities, representatives from both penalized institutions formally submitted written undertakings. These binding pledges explicitly committed the respective coaching centers to refraining from pasting or hanging any unapproved banners and posters across the city in the future.
Elaborating on the broader municipal strategy behind the ongoing crackdown, Regional Executive Officer Zubaida Akhtar stated that the enforcement drive is actively being carried out pursuant to the direct directives issued by Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain. She emphasized that the overarching objective of these concerted efforts is to successfully transform the municipality into a clean, green, and healthy city for all residents.
Furthermore, the regional executive officer firmly underscored that stringently hanging posters, banners, or festoons indiscriminately and without prior official permission constitutes a completely unlawful act that actively ruins the beauty of the urban landscape. She concluded by issuing a stern warning that regular punitive measures and eviction drives will persistently continue against any entities that choose to violate the law and degrade the visual appeal of the city.
