Daulatdia-Paturia Ferry Route's No. 7 Pier Closed Due to Crisis

The number 7 ferry pier of the vital Daulatdia-Paturia navigation route has been officially closed at the Rajbari end. This temporary suspension of terminal operations stems directly from severe environmental challenges affecting the waterway, namely strong currents flowing through the river alongside a mounting navigation crisis.

According to the verified timeline provided by authorities, the disruption at the crossing began on Thursday night. The adverse conditions persisted continuously over the following days, ultimately blocking all ferry docking capabilities at the designated number 7 pier until Saturday at noon.

While paper records indicate a total capacity of seven distinct piers—specifically noting that piers 3, 4, and 7 were previously functional—the complete closure of the number 7 pier has notably impacted local terminal logistics. The sudden inability of ferries to safely approach and moor at this specific location required immediate operational adjustments.

Despite the closure of the number 7 pier on the Rajbari side of the river, transportation services across the Daulatdia-Paturia route have not come to a complete halt. The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) has maintained transit capabilities by keeping a fleet of nine vessels actively moving across the waterway.

As confirmed by official statements from transport authorities, including remarks associated with Bashir Ahmed Khan, the current fleet configuration involves a combination of both small and large ferries. These nine operational vessels continue to manage passenger and vehicular movement while navigating the ongoing current and navigation challenges at the Daulatdia terminal.
