Bangladesh State Minister Holds Talks with CII and Bhutanese Official

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam held separate high-level meetings on Tuesday, August 18, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The diplomatic engagements brought together key regional stakeholders to discuss bilateral cooperation, economic prospects, and mutual development interests between Bangladesh, India, and Bhutan.

During the proceedings, the State Minister met with a visiting delegation representing the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Addressing the Indian business representatives, Shama Obaid Islam emphasized that the new government possesses a visionary outlook concerning trade and investment. She explicitly stated that the Indian business community can explore new avenues of economic cooperation between Bangladesh and India for mutual benefit.

Expanding further on the economic ties, the State Minister underscored the potential for deeper commercial integration. She noted that new possibilities in trade and investment can be successfully unlocked by increasing connectivity and direct interactions between the business communities and investors of both countries.

In a separate engagement on the same day, State Minister Shama Obaid Islam held talks with Bhutanese Foreign Secretary Pema Lektup Dorji at the ministry. The Bhutanese official is currently visiting Dhaka on an official three-day trip specifically to attend the fourth Foreign Office Consultation (FOC).

These diplomatic meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka highlight Bangladesh's active regional engagement. The discussions with both the Confederation of Indian Industry delegation and Bhutanese Foreign Secretary Pema Lektup Dorji reaffirm the government's commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic partnerships across South Asia.
