11-Party Alliance Criticizes Government Failures and Announces Long March
Leaders of the 11-party alliance held a press conference at the official residence of the opposition leader on Minto Road. During the event, they evaluated government performance and announced a long march to Chattogram.
Top leaders of the 11-party alliance convened a high-level meeting on Sunday at the official residence of the opposition leader, located on Minto Road in the capital. The crucial gathering brought together prominent political figures to evaluate the current performance and failures of the administration. Presiding over the meeting was the opposition leader and Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Shafiqur Rahman, who guided the discussions among the allied political factions.
During the press conference following the meeting, National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Nahid Islam delivered sharp criticism regarding the state of internal security and governance. Addressing the media, Nahid Islam explicitly stated that the home minister has already proven to be a failure in maintaining public safety. He pointed out that the overall law and order environment has shown no signs of improvement whatsoever, raising serious concerns about the ongoing efficacy of the administration.
Elaborating on the administrative shortcomings, Nahid Islam questioned the rationale of retaining ministries that continue to demonstrate continuous failure. He asserted that the government should seriously consider reorganizing these failing ministries to restore public confidence and operational stability. Furthermore, he explicitly stated that in such a restructuring process, the opposition parties would even be prepared to provide policy-level assistance to the government if deemed necessary.
The evaluation session also touched upon broader political dynamics involving various key organizations and historical contexts. Leaders from multiple political platforms, including Jamaat-e-Islami, the National Citizen Party (NCP), and the broader 11-party alliance, participated in the strategic deliberations. Discussions also factored in the political landscape previously shaped by figures such as Sheikh Hasina and Osman Hadi, alongside the positioning of the BNP and the Awami League over the span of 180 days.
Capping off the press conference, the alliance formally announced a major upcoming political program to press their demands and mobilize public support. It was officially declared that the 11-party alliance will embark on a long march toward Chattogram on September 5. To kick off this significant journey, leaders and activists have been instructed to gather at Shapla Chattor in the capital at precisely 7:00 am before departing for the port city.
