In Bangladesh, Inkilab Mancha coordinator Sharif Osman Hadi has been tragically killed. According to the confirmed details of the incident, the primary shooter Faisal Karim Masud and motorcycle driver Mohammad Alamgir Sheikh closely tracked Hadi before carrying out the fatal shooting.

Turning to broader national crime figures, data released by the Police Headquarters details the extent of homicides across Bangladesh. During the first seven months from January to July, a total of 2,076 murder cases were officially registered. Breaking down the figures month by month, January saw 287 cases, February recorded 250 cases, March experienced 317 cases, and April registered 288 cases. The trend continued into the summer, with May recording 310 cases, June seeing 326 cases, and July logging 298 cases. Consequently, the total number of registered murder cases over the past three months reached 934, maintaining an average of 311 murder cases per month nationwide.

In a separate tragic domestic incident in the country, the bodies of four members belonging to the same family were recovered from the second floor of a residential building located in the Masuyapara area of Kamalakachna within Rangpur city. Meanwhile, comprehensive national statistics concerning self-harm indicate that between 2020 and 2024, a staggering 76,361 individuals died by suicide over the course of those five years, averaging more than 15,000 suicides annually.

The wider societal overview also encompasses the protracted humanitarian situation in the refugee camps, where more than 1.2 million Rohingya individuals currently reside in shelter camps. Over the past nine years, approximately 300 murders have been recorded inside the Rohingya camps, where roughly 10 or more armed and criminal syndicates remain actively operating.

In the educational sector, out of 57 public universities across the country, the current government has appointed vice-chancellors to approximately 30 posts since taking office, though allegations concerning financial transactions in these VC appointments have reached as high as 50 million. In primary education, the total number of enrolled students from pre-primary up to the fifth grade stands at 20,183,048. However, assessments reveal that 51 percent of 10-year-old school children are unable to read and comprehend age-appropriate general texts in Bengali and English.

The extensive reports incorporate insights and data references from various notable entities, including the World Health Organization, the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), the National Institute of Mental Health and Hospital, and the World Bank, alongside other domestic figures such as Daud and Ganapati Chakraborty.
