The Historic Migration: Ali's Bravery on the Night of the Prophet's Hijrah

Following thirteen years of propagation and severe persecution in Mecca, the Prophet Muhammad prepared for the historic migration to Medina. This pivotal moment in Islamic history marked a major turning point for the early Muslim community, transitioning from a period of intense struggle and opposition in Mecca to establishing a new foundation in Medina.

Ahead of the migration, the polytheist leaders convened a crucial meeting at the Dar an-Nadwa assembly house. During this gathering, the hostile leaders devised a sinister plot to assassinate the Prophet Muhammad, aiming to eradicate the growing influence of Islam in the region.

To thwart the assassination plot and ensure a safe departure, Ali ibn Abi Talib demonstrated remarkable bravery and supreme self-sacrifice. On the very night of the migration, Ali wrapped himself in the Prophet’s cloak and lay down in the Prophet’s bed, knowingly placing himself in grave danger to deceive the waiting conspirators.

When the morning arrived, the polytheist plotters breached the house expecting to find their primary target. Instead, they discovered Ali ibn Abi Talib resting in the bed. Enraged by the deception and the successful escape, the attackers grew furious, physically assaulted Ali, and briefly detained him.

Despite the violence and detention, Ali faithfully carried out his remaining crucial responsibilities. He stayed behind to return all the trusts and valuable items that had been entrusted to the Prophet Muhammad by various owners, successfully fulfilling these obligations before eventually making his own journey to join the Muslims in Medina.
