Prof Nazmus Sadat Appointed First VC of Narayanganj Science and Technology Univ
Professor Md Nazmus Sadat has been appointed as the first vice-chancellor of Narayanganj Science and Technology University following years of legislative changes. Meanwhile, a new vice-chancellor has also been appointed at Gopalganj Science and Technology University.
Narayanganj Science and Technology University has officially received its very first vice-chancellor following three years of official approvals and administrative developments. According to the latest announcements made in Bangladesh on Tuesday, Professor Md Nazmus Sadat has been assigned to lead the newly established institution as its inaugural vice-chancellor. This milestone marks a significant step forward for the university, which has undergone several formal transitions since its inception and initial legislative framework.
The foundational journey of the institution began back in 2023 when the official law for 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Narayanganj' was enacted by the legislature. Subsequently, further legislative adjustments took place in February 2025, when the official name of the institution was formally amended to Narayanganj Science and Technology University. Professor Md Nazmus Sadat takes on this prestigious leadership role after previously being appointed as the vice-chancellor of Gopalganj Science and Technology University on July 19.
In a related administrative development announced by the Ministry of Education on Tuesday, leadership changes have also occurred at Gopalganj Science and Technology University. Md Sohel Hasan, who previously served as the pro-vice-chancellor of the same institution, has now been elevated and officially appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Gopalganj Science and Technology University.
According to the standard regulatory framework governing these public higher education institutions in Bangladesh, the newly appointed vice-chancellors are generally slated to serve a standard four-year term in their respective offices. However, the governing regulations also explicitly stipulate that the president, acting in the capacity of the chancellor, retains the ultimate authority to revoke or cancel these administrative appointments at any given time.
