Noakhali Science and Technology University Extends Clash Probe
Authorities at Noakhali Science and Technology University have extended the deadline for a probe committee. The investigation follows campus clashes involving Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal factions, journalist harassment, and outsider violence.
The administration at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) has officially extended the timeframe for a special investigation committee tasked with probing recent campus unrest. The developments follow a series of disruptive incidents that took place on August 17 and 18, involving violent clashes between two opposing factions of the university's Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal branch.
In addition to the factional clashes, the incidents on the campus also involved the harassment of journalists and rampages conducted by outsiders. In response to the growing concerns surrounding security and discipline, the university administration swiftly moved to establish a dedicated three-member investigation committee to uncover the full scope of the events.
To ensure a completely neutral and thorough examination of the facts, the university administration has now granted the probe body an additional three days to complete its work. Members of the committee have emphasized that they are meticulously reviewing all available evidence to hold the responsible parties accountable for the campus violence.
Speaking on the ongoing proceedings, committee member Professor AFM Arifur Rahman provided an update on their investigative approach. He stated that the investigation process is actively underway, with the committee speaking individually with all involved parties and gathering various video footage for careful review and analysis.
Professor Rahman further underscored that the government has issued strict directives to take decisive action against all individuals found to be involved in the disturbances. Building on these remarks, committee head Professor Dr. Md. Hasan Uddin elaborated on the specific investigative steps being taken by the panel.
Professor Uddin noted that the committee has already summoned all relevant parties and is closely analyzing both closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and digital media footage that emerged online during the clashes. Because the university administration instructed them to conduct a meticulous investigation, the committee formally requested an extra three days from the administration to finish the task, expressing confidence that the complete investigation report will be submitted within the newly designated timeframe.
