Police Officer Welcomes Expats Brother in Kushtia Drawing Criticism

An incident involving the arrival of an expatriate by helicopter in Kushtia has triggered significant discussion and criticism among local residents. The event took place on Sunday, September 6, at the Khoksa-Janipur Pilot Secondary School field located in Khoksa, Kushtia. According to verified reports, Nasir Uddin Sheikh, the brother of potential Khoksa municipality mayoral candidate Robin Raihan Jashim, arrived at the field via helicopter after traveling from Dhaka, having previously journeyed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Following the arrival, a video of the event rapidly spread across social media platforms, drawing sharp criticism and local debate. The footage brought public attention to the presence of law enforcement officials at the scene. Khoksa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Molla Zakir Hossain and Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Mosharfor Hossain were both confirmed to be present at the Khoksa-Janipur Pilot Secondary School field during the helicopter's landing and the subsequent gathering.
Addressing the allegations surrounding the police's involvement, OC Molla Zakir Hossain strongly denied that officers welcomed the individual with flowers. In his defense, he stated that such a person cannot be given flowers by law enforcement, and asserted that they did not do so. According to the officer, the flowers were provided by the individual's own supporters, while the police were present solely to ensure security. He maintained that during this security operation, those supporters handed flowers to the investigation officer instead.
A differing perspective was offered by Robin Raihan Jashim, the potential mayoral candidate whose brother was the subject of the welcoming event. Defending the police's actions captured in the widely circulated video, Jashim explained that the police officer did not actually present any flowers. Instead, he claimed that the flowers were falling into the mud, and the officer merely assisted in holding them up during the commotion.

When questioned about the unfolding controversy involving the police presence and the welcoming ceremony, Akher Uddin Sheikh and Faisal Mahmud have not yet provided extensive commentary.
