Police have submitted a formal charge sheet against four individuals in connection with the HSC exam result tampering scandal involving the son of a former Chattogram Education Board secretary. The investigation has led to legal action, including the cancellation of the student's altered grades.
Law enforcement authorities in Chattogram have officially pressed charges against four individuals implicated in a high-profile HSC examination result forgery scandal. The case centers on allegations of grade manipulation involving Nakkhatra Debnath, the son of Narayan Chandra Nath, who previously served as the secretary of the Chattogram Education Board. According to the verified details of the case, the falsification of academic records prompted a thorough official inquiry and subsequent police action within the region.
The formal charge sheet was submitted to the court on August 18, 2026, by Sub-Inspector S. M. Shafiul Azam Munshi of the Panchlaish Police Station in Chattogram. Following a detailed investigation into the irregularities, the investigating officer finalized the documents required to proceed with judicial proceedings against the four accused parties. The case file has now been officially lodged with the relevant judicial authorities for further legal steps.
As part of the judicial process, investigators have listed a total of eleven individuals to act as witnesses during the upcoming court proceedings. These witnesses are expected to provide testimony regarding the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized alteration of academic scores within the education board framework. Investigators uncovered specific instances of score manipulation, noting that Nakkhatra had originally received 31 marks in the written section of the Bengali First Paper, which was subsequently inflated to 41 marks.
Further scrutiny by investigators revealed administrative irregularities connected to the board operations, including findings that individuals involved were allocated a daily allowance of 2,000 taka. In response to the confirmed falsification of academic credentials, decisive administrative action was taken regarding the examination records. Consequently, the disputed HSC examination results of the former secretary's son were officially cancelled by the authorities.
The investigation into the scandal has involved several key figures and regulatory bodies, including Kibria Masud Khan, Professor Mustafa Kamrul Akhter, Bonoshree Debnath, and Professor Dr. A. K. M. Shamsuddin Azad. The case itself has drawn close attention from oversight bodies such as the Ministry of Education and the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), alongside the local police and the Chattogram Education Board, as accountability measures continue to unfold through the judicial system.
