Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to take oath as Bangladesh's 23rd president

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is scheduled to take his oath of office as the 23rd president of the country today, Friday, at 7:30 PM. The high-profile swearing-in ceremony will officially take place at Bangabhaban in Dhaka, marking a significant political transition for the nation following the recent presidential election.

Acting Speaker kaysar Kamal will administer the official oath to the newly elected president during the evening event at Bangabhaban. The ceremony is expected to be attended by various prominent political figures, including representatives from major political parties such as the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and other key organizations.

In the lead-up to the evening ceremony, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has implemented special traffic management measures. These traffic restrictions and alternate routes will remain in effect around the Bangabhaban area on Friday, specifically starting from 3:00 PM and lasting until 9:00 PM, to ensure security and smooth movement during the proceedings.

The upcoming inauguration follows the official presidential election results, which saw Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir secure a decisive victory. Out of a total of 349 votes cast in the election, he garnered 255 votes, while his primary rival candidate, Oli Ahmad, received 88 votes.

Political leaders such as Mo. Amir Khasru and Oli Ahmad are among the notable figures associated with the broader political landscape surrounding this transition. The event marks a major milestone as the nation prepares to welcome its 23rd head of state under the administration of the newly arranged government and parliamentary framework.
