Preparations have been fully completed inside the historic Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban in Dhaka to host the official swearing-in ceremony of newly elected president Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The high-profile event is scheduled to take place today, Friday, at exactly 7:30 in the evening, marking a significant political transition for the country following the recent vacancy in the nation's highest office.

During the solemn ceremony, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will take his official oath, which will be administered by acting speaker Kaisar Kamal. Government authorities and the Cabinet Division have made extensive arrangements for the historic proceeding, extending official invitations to more than twelve hundred distinguished guests to witness the momentous occasion at the presidential palace.

The upcoming inauguration follows a parliamentary vote held on Thursday inside the parliamentary chamber of the national parliament building. Out of a total of 349 registered members of parliament who acted as voters for the election, only six members were recorded as absent, demonstrating a high turnout among the legislative body for the crucial democratic process.

In the final electoral tally, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir secured a decisive victory by capturing 255 votes from the participating lawmakers. His primary challenger in the presidential race, Oli Ahmad, managed to garner 88 votes during the parliamentary contest before the final results were officially declared.

This presidential succession comes in the wake of the departure of former president Mohd. Shahabuddin, who officially stepped down from the presidential post previously on the 24th of July. With the completion of today's evening ceremony administered by acting speaker Kaisar Kamal, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will officially assume the responsibilities of the head of state.
