Dhaka Police Implement Special Traffic Controls for Presidential Swearing-In

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has implemented a special traffic management system and restricted vehicle movement in and around Bangabhaban in Dhaka, Bangladesh. These security and logistical measures have been put in place specifically for the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected president, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 21, 2026.

According to the official schedule released by authorities, the high-profile inauguration event will commence at 7:30 PM on Friday evening inside the historic Bangabhaban. The solemn ceremony marks the official assumption of office for the newly elected head of state, drawing numerous dignitaries and invited guests to the official presidential residence.

To facilitate the smooth and uninterrupted transit of all invited guests attending the evening ceremony, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has established a strict time-bound traffic control plan. This specialized arrangement will remain in active implementation on August 21, spanning a six-hour window from 3:00 PM in the afternoon until 9:00 PM at night.

As part of the stringent traffic regulations enforced by the DMP for the presidential event, the entry of all types of vehicles will be strictly prohibited across several key thoroughfares. The restricted zone covers the stretch from the Alico Gap at Motijheel Shapla Chattar, extending through the Dilkusha commercial area, and reaching all the way up to the Rajuk Crossing.

Commuters and local motorists navigating the capital city on Friday afternoon and evening are advised to note these designated road closures and plan alternative routes accordingly.
