Dhaka DC Farida Khanom Visits Dhamrai Bede Village After Three Decades
Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanom visited the Bede village in Dhamrai upazila after nearly three decades to distribute aid. She assured residents of government support, housing land, and livelihood projects.
Dhaka District Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanom has visited the Bede village located in Rupsnagar under Kulla union of Dhamrai upazila, Dhaka. This significant visit took place on August 20, marking the first time in nearly three decades that a district administrator has gone to the village to check on the well-being of its residents and listen to their concerns directly.
During the visit, the administration distributed essential relief materials among the villagers to address immediate needs. Specifically, dry food items were distributed among all 63 families residing in the Bede village. In addition, financial and material assistance was provided to vulnerable households, including corrugated iron sheets known as dheutin alongside cash grants of 6,000 Taka each distributed to 12 individuals, bringing the total cash distribution to 72,000 Taka.
Furthering the welfare distribution, clothes were handed out to community members, which included sarees and three-piece outfits provided to a total of 113 individuals. Recognizing the youngest members of the community, toys were distributed among 200 children living in the Rupsnagar Bede village during the administrative visit.
Addressing the gathering of local residents, Dhaka District Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanom emphasized the government's inclusive policy and stated: “No person in society should remain outside of development and public services; the administration is working precisely towards that goal. Necessary cooperation from the administration will continue to ensure the improvement of the living standards of the marginalized population and to guarantee opportunities for education and normal development for their children.”
To ensure long-term sustainability and upliftment for the marginalized community, the Deputy Commissioner made several key commitments during her interaction with the villagers. She promised the allocation of a 500,000 Taka project through the upazila parishad, the provision of khas land allocation, and the distribution of 25 sewing machines to enhance employment and self-reliance among the residents of the Rupsnagar Bede village.
