Minister Asadul Habib Dulu Announces 2027 Teesta Megaproject Launch

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has officially announced that the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Teesta megaproject in the year 2027. The significant policy statement was made during a special reception event held on August 25, which brought together students and leaders from the northern region.

The event, titled the freshers' welcome and farewell reception for 2026, was organized by the Lalmonirhat District Student Welfare Association. The gathering took place at the central auditorium of Jagannath University located in the capital city of Dhaka, drawing notable figures and students alike.

Addressing the audience during the program, Minister Asadul Habib Dulu provided updates regarding the progress surrounding the massive infrastructure initiative. He noted that despite various types of negative propaganda regarding the Teesta megaproject, the actual work on the initiative has already advanced significantly.

Elaborating on the planning process, the minister stated that while discussions regarding such a large and extensive project used to be based on speculative statements, the approach has now shifted toward formal consultations. Discussions are currently being held with major experts, and once they submit their reports, the government will commence the work shortly.

In addition to discussing the infrastructure project, Minister Asadul Habib Dulu also made a financial announcement during the proceedings at Jagannath University. He publicly declared a grant of five lakh taka intended to provide admission assistance for impoverished students.

The program featured the participation of several prominent individuals alongside the disaster management and relief minister. Among those noted at the event were barrister Hasan Rajib Prodhan, Rokon Uddin Babul, Anisul Islam Khokon, Dr. Md. Rois Uddin, and Azizul Hakim Akash, who collectively joined the student welfare gathering.
