Low Pressure Brings Rain and Warning Signals Across Coastal Regions

A weather system has developed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining areas of West Bengal and Odisha, according to the latest reports from the region. The meteorological office confirmed that a low-pressure area is currently positioned in this zone, influencing weather patterns across several districts and coastal belts.

In Patuakhali, the impact of the low pressure is already being felt as intermittent rainfall continues to disrupt normal daily activities. Weather officials state that the ongoing showers are a direct consequence of the active atmospheric disturbance forming over the neighboring maritime boundary.

In response to the deteriorating weather conditions, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued cautionary signals for maritime and river ports. Payra, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, and Mongla maritime ports have all been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three as conditions at sea begin to deteriorate.

Furthermore, river ports across multiple regions have been placed under advisory warnings. Inland waterways located in Patuakhali, Khulna, Barishal, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox's Bazar have been instructed to display local warning signal number one for all watercraft operating within those jurisdictions.

Meteorological data indicates that winds associated with the system are reaching speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour. Mahbuba Sukhi from the weather office noted that the low-pressure system may intensify further, which could result in an increase in precipitation and the continuation of gusty or squally winds across vulnerable coastal areas.

Given the hazardous conditions at sea, authorities have issued specific directives for the maritime community. Fishing trawlers and small boats operating in the affected marine zones have been advised to remain close to the coastline and to proceed with extreme caution while navigating the rough waters.
