Begum Rokeya University Offers Taka 10,000 Reward for Campus Drug Informants

The administration at Begum Rokeya University, located in Rangpur, Bangladesh, has officially announced a cash reward of 10,000 Taka for anyone who provides information helping to identify individuals involved in drug consumption and trading on the campus premises.

The announcement regarding the financial incentive was made public on Saturday night, August 29, by the university's Proctor, Professor Ferdous Rahman, as part of an ongoing effort to combat narcotics and bolster campus security.

Addressing the severity of the situation, a campus individual identified as Habib stated that four members of a single family were recently killed in Rangpur simply for obstructing drug consumption, noting that this escalating security threat is also growing day by day within the university. Habib further explained that every day after 10:00 PM, several groups of outsiders gather on the university's football field to consume drugs, posing a major threat to both the educational environment and overall safety.

In response to these mounting concerns, Professor Ferdous Rahman emphasized that the university administration will take strict action against anyone associated with narcotics on campus. He highlighted that over the past two years, the institution has already taken action against approximately 17 individuals linked to drugs, with seven of them handed over to authorities.

Reiterating a zero-tolerance stance, Professor Rahman declared that the university administration will grant no leniency whatsoever regarding the issue of narcotics. Under the newly announced policy, any university student who assists in identifying individuals involved in drug consumption or trading will be rewarded with a cash prize of 10,000 Taka.
