Khagrachhari School Hosts Anti-Crime and Drug Rally
Thakurchhara High School in Khagrachhari town hosted an anti-crime and drug awareness meeting and oath-taking ceremony on Sunday. The event was organized by the voluntary organization Lal Sabuj Unnayan Sangha.
An awareness meeting and oath-taking ceremony focused on preventing juvenile delinquency and drug abuse was held on Sunday, August 30, at Thakurchhara High School, located in Khagrachhari town. The event brought together students, educators, and local officials to address critical social issues affecting the youth in the region.
The programme was organized by Lal Sabuj Unnayan Sangha, a voluntary organization that has been working for the past 15 years to raise social awareness among students across all 64 districts of the country. According to organizational records, the group has engaged approximately 4.5 million students through various awareness-raising activities aimed at fostering positive behavioral changes.
Rozina Akhter, Additional District Commissioner for Education and ICT, attended the gathering as the chief guest, lending official support to the youth-focused initiative. Her presence underscored the local administration's commitment to tackling the pressing challenges of drug addiction and youth-related crimes within the district.
A notable highlight of the event was its milestone designation within the organization's broader national campaign. Organizers confirmed that this particular gathering in Khagrachhari marked the 1,944th programme conducted by Lal Sabuj Unnayan Sangha since its inception.
The event also featured the participation of several other notable figures, including Kawsar Alam Sohel, Md. Kay Kislu, Carniji Chakma, Abu Taher, Dr. Md. Rabiul Patwari Rabi, Dr. Ashraf Uddin Niloy, and Sadman Tasin. Their collective presence reflected widespread community and institutional backing for the anti-drug and crime-prevention mission.
During the proceedings, students participated in an oath-taking ceremony, vowing to stay away from narcotics and criminal activities. The initiative concluded with renewed pledges from both school authorities and organizers to continue guiding students toward healthy, productive futures.
