JnU Mass Communication and Journalism Alumni Form 2026-27 Executive Committee

Jagannath University's Mass Communication and Journalism department alumni have formed their new 2026-27 executive committee following an election held on August 28, 2026. Md. Nazrul Islam was elected as president and Arafat Raju as general secretary.

The alumni association of the Mass Communication and Journalism department at Jagannath University in Dhaka has officially formed its new executive committee for the 2026-27 operational term. The announcement follows a formal election process that took place directly within the university's Mass Communication and Journalism department on August 28, 2026.

During the election proceedings, associate professor Md. Raisul Islam served in the official capacity of chief election commissioner, overseeing the successful establishment of the new leadership team. Alongside him, several other academic faculty members performed critical administrative roles during the electoral process, including Professor Dr. Sabina Sharmin, Professor Dr. Gias Uddin, and Professor Dr. Ashraful Alam.

Following the conclusion of the election, the newly elected committee leadership secured top positions for the upcoming term. Md. Nazrul Islam was elected to lead the association as president, while Arafat Raju secured the position of general secretary, heading the administrative operations of the organization alongside Treasurer Tasnova Hossain, Vice Presidents Zobayer Ahmed, Sarkar Sakhawat Hossain, and Ariful Islam, and Joint General Secretaries Rocky Ahmed, Masud Rana, and Abrar Zahin.

The newly formed executive committee also includes Amirul Islam as organizing secretary, Chapol Rahman as office secretary, Md. Arman Ali as publicity secretary, Ashikur Rahman as finance secretary, Kawshar Khan as cultural secretary, Md. Ashikuzzaman Ashik as sports secretary, Saiful Islam as social welfare secretary, and MM Mujahid Uddin as training and employment secretary. Additionally, Abu Saleh Atif, Saikat Saha, Ibrahim Khalil, and Moshfiqur Rahman Imon were named as executive members.

Expressing his immediate vision for the association, newly elected president Md. Nazrul Islam stated that building the alumni association into a more effective and robust organization stands as their primary objective. He emphasized a collective desire to move forward unitedly by involving everyone for the ultimate benefit of the department.

Echoing similar sentiments regarding the future of the association, newly elected general secretary Arafat Raju noted that strengthening communication and unity among all alumni while working continuously for the development of the department will remain his primary goal. He concluded by earnestly seeking the cooperation and valuable advice of all members in effectively discharging these newly assigned responsibilities.

In the wake of the electoral victory, the newly elected committee members traveled to officially meet with Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Raisul Islam. During this formal visit, the association leaders exchanged floral greetings with the university vice-chancellor to mark the beginning of their new leadership term.
