Gaibandha: 30 Illegal Charcoal Kilns Destroyed in Saghatta
Authorities in Gaibandha destroyed 30 illegal kilns used for burning wood into charcoal during a joint operation on September 3. The crackdown in the Kamarpara area involved multiple local government and security agencies.
In a coordinated crackdown against environmental violations, authorities have successfully destroyed 30 illegal kilns that were being used to burn wood and produce charcoal. The operation took place on September 3 in the Kamarpara area, located within the Saghatta upazila of the Gaibandha district.
The enforcement action was jointly led by Shri Ratan Kumar Dutta, who serves as the Saghatta upazila assistant commissioner for land, alongside Ajaharul Islam, the assistant director of the Department of Environment in Gaibandha. Their leadership ensured the systematic dismantling of the unauthorized structures operating in the locality.
To maintain law and order and assist with the demolition process, members of the local police force as well as the fire service were present at the scene throughout the duration of the operation. Their presence ensured the site remained secure while the thirty illegal wood-burning kilns were systematically brought down.
Following the operation, official Sher Alam commented on the enforcement action and the future stance of the authorities regarding such environmental offenses. He stated that operations of this nature against illegal charcoal production that harms the environment will continue to remain ongoing.
Mr. Alam further noted that during the course of the raid, both the owners of the kilns and their employees managed to flee the area. However, he issued a stern warning that if any individuals attempt to establish illegal kilns and resume charcoal production in the future, strict legal action will be taken against them.
