DU Student Holds Sit-in at Raju Sculpture Over Ganapati Roy Murder

On the evening of August 26, 2026, a demonstration took place at the Raju Sculpture premises located at TSC within the University of Dhaka. Joy Biswas, a student residing in the university's Jagannath Hall, initiated a sit-in program to voice profound concerns regarding the state of public safety across the country.
The primary catalyst for the protest was the horrific killing of retired schoolteacher Ganapati Roy and his entire family in Rangpur. Demonstrating against both this specific atrocity and the broader, severe deterioration of the national law and order situation, the Dhaka University student maintained his solitary protest at the prominent campus landmark.
During the course of the demonstration, Joy Biswas detailed the motivation behind his public action. He stated, 'In protest of the brutal murder of Ganapati Sir of Rangpur along with his entire family, and against the extreme deterioration of the law and order situation across the country, I have been observing a sit-in program for a long four hours.'
Highlighting the gravity of the circumstances surrounding the retired educator's death, the Jagannath Hall resident emphasized the urgent need for a unified response to the escalating crisis.
