The leadership of Bangladesh Krishak-Mazdoor Sanghati has urgently called upon the authorities to establish a specialized fertiliser distribution task force to address the ongoing crisis affecting agricultural workers across the country. The demand was formally put forward by the organisation's president, Dewan Abdur Rashid (Nilu), and general secretary, Abdul Alim, as mounting shortages continue to severely disrupt farming communities and threaten agricultural output nationwide.
According to the verified reports, the growing desperation among cultivators reached a boiling point on Sunday in Bhurungamari, Kurigram. Frustrated by severe scarcity and a lack of access to essential agricultural inputs, a large group of angry and aggrieved farmers took matters into their own hands by breaking into a local fertiliser dealer's storage facility.
During the incident at the dealership in Kurigram, the agitated crowd forcefully took away a total of 197 sacks of fertiliser that had been kept in the storage. The spontaneous action by the local agricultural workers highlights the escalating tension and deep-seated anxiety regarding the availability of critical farming supplies in the region.
In response to the growing unrest and the broader national implications of the supply crunch, leaders Dewan Abdur Rashid (Nilu) and Abdul Alim have insisted that the Ministry of Agriculture and relevant authorities must take immediate, decisive action. They argue that the formation of an emergency distribution task force is the only viable way to restore order and ensure fair distribution to those who need it most.
The current crisis underlines systemic vulnerabilities in how agricultural supplies are managed and distributed to grassroots farmers in Bangladesh.
