Doves Rescued From Hunter in Faridpur

More than 50 doves that were caught using banned China duari nets have been successfully rescued from a wildlife hunter in Faridpur. The incident took place on August 19, 2026, at the Momin Khar Hat located in Char Madhhabdia Union under the Faridpur Sadar Upazila of Faridpur district.

According to the verified details of the incident, a bird hunter named Masud brought approximately 60 doves to the local market for the purpose of selling them. During the market hours, the hunter was actively selling the captured birds at a rate of 100 taka per pair, and he had already managed to sell a few pairs to buyers.

The situation at the market took a turn when local journalist Mehedi Sohel intervened to stop the illegal sale. Facing pressure from the intervention and the looming fear of authorities being formally notified, the hunter ultimately released the remaining captured birds back into the open sky.

Following the incident, Meskatul Jannat Rabeya addressed the broader issue of wildlife protection in the area, stating that hunting birds and wildlife is a punishable offense under the law. She urged conscious citizens to identify such hunters and inform the administration so that mobile courts can be promptly operated to take legal action.

Furthermore, authorities emphasized that strict measures will be implemented against individuals involved in catching fish and birds using the prohibited China duari nets. This rescue operation highlights ongoing local vigilance and the enforcement of wildlife conservation laws in rural communities across Faridpur.
