Diesel Spills at Rajshahi Railway Station After Pipe Rupture
A diesel supply pipe ruptured during excavation work at the Rajshahi Railway station, causing fuel to spill into nearby drains. Authorities have formed an investigation committee to determine the exact amount of lost fuel and recover compensation from the contractor.
An incident involving a fuel spill occurred at the Rajshahi Railway Station during excavation work conducted on August 22 and 23. According to the confirmed details of the event, the mishap took place when a diesel supply pipe ruptured while earth was being dug up at the location.
The excavation work at the site was being carried out by a contracting firm named Rubel Enterprise, which was utilizing an excavator for the job. During this operation, the machinery damaged the diesel supply infrastructure, resulting in fuel leaking and spreading into the station's drainage system.
While the exact volume of the lost fuel remains officially unverified, local individuals have claimed that approximately 10,000 litres of diesel spilled and flowed directly into the drains. Furthermore, records concerning the infrastructure indicate that the associated tank possesses a total capacity of roughly 30,000 litres.
In response to the fuel spill, the railway authorities have taken formal administrative action. The Western Railway has established an official investigation committee to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ascertain the exact extent of the damage caused at the station.
Regarding the financial implications and accountability for the accident, Farid Ahmed stated that the investigation committee will determine the actual quantity of oil that was lost. Following the findings of the investigation report, the necessary financial compensation for the lost fuel will be recovered directly from the contractor, Rubel Enterprise.
