The incident took place in the Puranapoil area of Jaipurhat, causing a disruption that lasted for approximately two and a half hours before normal operations could be successfully restored by the railway authorities.
The disruption specifically affected the Barendra Express. According to the detailed sequence of events provided regarding the incident, the train had departed from Chilahati and successfully passed through the Panchbibi railway station. However, as it reached the Puranapoil area, a critical mechanical failure occurred within the train's mechanical setup.
El M. Sanowar Hossain explained the situation on the ground, stating that the spring of the third carriage behind the engine suddenly broke. Prompt action was taken by the personnel to bring the train to a rapid stop, and the control room was immediately informed of the unexpected breakdown to prevent any further complications along the route.
Following the notification, repair teams arrived at the location to address the broken spring on the Barendra Express. After completing the necessary maintenance work on the affected carriage, the train was cleared to depart from the site at around 11:30 in the morning, allowing railway operations to resume across the region.
Despite the sudden suspension of train services along this crucial route for roughly two and a half hours, railway authorities confirmed a positive outcome regarding passenger safety. Specifically, no passengers sustained any injuries or casualties throughout the entirety of the unexpected breakdown and subsequent repair period.
