Dhaka Publishes Daily Prayer Schedule and Islamic Rulings
Authorities in Dhaka have released the daily prayer schedule alongside essential Islamic rulings regarding ritual worship. The published details outline the precise number of obligatory and supplementary rakats for daily prayers.

Today is Saturday, 5 September 2026, corresponding to 21 Bhadra 1433 in the Bengali calendar and 22 Rabiul Awwal 1448 in the Hijri calendar. Authorities have officially published the comprehensive daily prayer schedule for Dhaka and surrounding areas, providing residents with accurate timings for their daily religious obligations.
Alongside the schedule, important Islamic rulings concerning the performance of prayers were detailed for the public. According to the publication, prayer is a fundamental obligation that must be performed at its designated time, echoing the divine declaration attributed to Allah that prayer is mandatory for believers at specific times.
The newly released guidelines also detail the structural breakdown of the daily prayers. Specifically, there are a total of 17 obligatory (farz) rakats distributed across the five daily prayers, accompanied by 12 sunnat-e-muakkada rakats and 3 witr rakats which hold the status of wajib.
Religious teachings accompanying the schedule emphasize the critical importance of prayer in distinguishing belief from disbelief. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) noted that the distinction between believers and disbelievers lies in prayer, warning that abandoning it constitutes disbelief, and similarly stated that the barrier between a servant and polytheism or disbelief is the abandonment of prayer.
Finally, the publication highlights the ultimate accountability awaiting individuals in the afterlife. According to a statement attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), on the Day of Resurrection, the very first of a servant's deeds to be accounted for will be their prayers; if found adequate, the person achieves success and salvation, whereas any flaws render them failures and among the losers.
