Dhaka Meeting Held to Ensure Safe Migration and Strengthen Management
A high-level consultation meeting was held in Dhaka to ensure safe, regular, and orderly migration while strengthening the country's migration management. The event brought together key government ministries, agencies, and officials from fourteen migration-prone districts under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A significant consultation meeting took place on August 25 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The primary objective of this gathering was to ensure safe, regular, and orderly migration while simultaneously strengthening and consolidating the overall migration management framework of the country.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam presided over the high-level meeting in Dhaka. During the discussions, Shama Obaid Islam emphasized the domestic responsibilities regarding migrant welfare, stating that it is possible to ensure the protection of overseas migrants through effective preventive measures established right within the country's interior.
The important consultation session saw the active participation of officials from several key government bodies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
In addition to representatives from these vital ministries and organizations, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners representing fourteen distinct migration-prone districts across Bangladesh. Their involvement aims to address localized migration challenges and implement stronger management strategies at the grassroots level.
This cooperative effort among multiple government departments and international organizations marks a crucial step toward addressing the complexities of overseas employment. By bringing together local administrative leaders and central policymakers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeks to build a more secure and systematic environment for Bangladeshi workers traveling abroad.
