BUET and DPDC Decide Against Load Shedding During Classes in Dhaka
Authorities at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology have announced that power outages will not occur during class hours following discussions with DPDC. A previous emergency notice issued on August 23 has been officially cancelled.
In an administrative development affecting the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, university authorities have reached a collaborative decision with the Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited regarding the management of electricity supplies during active academic hours.
The arrangement, which was formally confirmed on August 24, dictates that the campus will remain completely free from scheduled load shedding during the specified daytime hours when students are actively attending classes across the university grounds in Dhaka.
Under the newly established operational schedule, the designated load-shedding-free period has been strictly defined as running from 8:00 AM in the morning until 4:00 PM in the afternoon, ensuring uninterrupted power access for all educational and academic activities taking place within this timeframe.
This revised course of action directly supersedes a prior directive that had been communicated to the university community through an official emergency notice published just one day earlier on August 23, which had previously outlined a different power disruption schedule.
That earlier emergency notification, which had originally indicated that the campus would face daily power outages lasting up to five hours, has now been completely cancelled and rendered entirely void following the successful high-level discussions between the university and the power distribution utility.
The resolution comes as a direct response to prevailing electricity shortages in the region, with both the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology administration and the Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited working together to prioritize the uninterrupted continuation of daily classes and student instruction.
