Customs Officer Killed and Several Injured in Feni Bus Accident

A fatal traffic accident occurred on Sunday, September 6, 2026, when a passenger bus overturned on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway. The incident took place specifically in the Lalpol area, located near the Star Line Filling Station along the Chattogram-bound lane in Feni. According to confirmed details, the crash happened after a moving truck applied a sudden brake, which caused the following bus to lose control and overturn directly onto the road divider.

The violent overturning of the vehicle resulted in the tragic death of a customs officer identified as Md. Abdul Alim, whose name is also spelled as Abdul Alim. The victim served as an Assistant Revenue Officer stationed at the Sylhet and Moulvibazar Customs Office. Historical records of his age are noted as either 40 or 36 depending on the source reports. In addition to the fatality, the accident left multiple passengers injured, with casualty figures recorded as either 10 or 6 injured individuals across different reporting sources.

Reflecting on the victim's journey prior to the tragedy, the deceased officer's cousin, Arif, provided a detailed account of his movements. Arif explained that Md. Abdul Alim had come to Feni from Sylhet by train while on leave. Following his arrival, he departed from Mohipal in Feni aboard a bus operated by the transport company known as Shyamali Paribahan or CDM Paribahan, heading toward his home in Barearhat. Tragically, the bus became involved in the devastating accident along this route.

In the wake of the emergency, local rescue and law enforcement agencies responded swiftly to the scene. The Fire Service along with the Highway Police from the Mohipal Highway Police Station deployed personnel to manage the crisis and assist the victims. Injured passengers were rushed for medical treatment to the Feni General Hospital, while the deceased official's father, Abdul Kader, awaited the handling of his son's remains.

The wreckage of the passenger bus caused severe disruptions to traffic along the vital Chattogram-bound lane of the highway. Describing the clearance operations, Mohipal Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kabir Hossain stated that the wrecked bus was removed from the road utilizing two wreckers for the heavy lifting. Sub-Inspector (SI) Majed Hossain was also involved in the official response at the scene. OC Kabir Hossain confirmed that it took approximately two and a half hours of concerted effort to clear the bus and fully restore normal traffic flow.

Concluding the immediate operational phase, law enforcement authorities took the accident-involved bus into police custody. OC Kabir Hossain further noted that once all necessary legal procedures and processes are completed, the body of the deceased customs officer will be officially handed over to his grieving family members.
