Chumadanga couple given shelter project home keys
A landless couple in Chuadanga, who lived in a goat shed for a long time, has received the keys to a brick-built home under the Ashrayan project. Union Assistant Land Officer Mostafizur Rahman handed over the keys on August 31, 2026.
A destitute couple residing in the Chuadanga district of Bangladesh has finally found permanent relief after years of enduring extreme hardship. For a prolonged period, Amir Hossain and his wife, Sumaiya Khatun, were forced to live in the corner of someone else's goat shed, struggling daily against the elements without proper housing security or stable living conditions.
This prolonged period of homelessness and vulnerability came to an end on August 31, 2026. On this significant date, the couple officially received the keys to a new, permanent brick-built home provided by the government's dedicated shelter initiative, the Ashrayan project.
The formal handover ceremony took place in the area known as Karpasdanga Bhumihinpara, located within the Damurhuda upazila of the Chuadanga district. This location marks a dramatic turnaround for Amir Hossain and Sumaiya Khatun, transitioning them from a life on the margins into government-backed permanent housing.
Official representation at the handover event was carried out by Union Assistant Land Officer Mostafizur Rahman. In his official capacity, Mr. Rahman formally presented the keys of the newly constructed Ashrayan project residence directly into the hands of the beneficiaries, Amir Hossain and Sumaiya Khatun.
The provision of this brick-built house under the Ashrayan project represents a vital welfare intervention for the previously landless couple. By moving from a cramped goat shed into a secure government home, Amir Hossain and Sumaiya Khatun begin a new chapter of stability within the Chuadanga region.
