Authorities have taken strict disciplinary measures against twenty officials and employees at the Narayanganj Sadar Upazila land office following an unannounced inspection that uncovered significant operational irregularities. The administrative crackdown was initiated after state authorities discovered multiple instances of unauthorized absence and manipulation of official attendance records among the personnel stationed at the facility located in Khanpur, Narayanganj.

The violations were brought to light on August 31, 2026, when State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin conducted a surprise visit to the Narayanganj Sadar Upazila land office during morning hours. Upon inspecting the premises and reviewing administrative documents, the visiting minister found that numerous officials and employees were physically absent from their designated workstations during official duty hours.

Further scrutiny of the daily logs revealed a more serious breach of protocol regarding the attendance register for August 31, 2026. Investigators discovered that several staff members had fraudulently signed the attendance register on the previous day, effectively pre-dating their signatures to create a false record of punctuality and presence before the actual workday had even commenced.

In the wake of these findings, formal show-cause notices have been dispatched to a total of twenty officials and employees associated with the administration. This sanctioned group includes the two assistant commissioners who hold supervisory responsibilities within the local revenue structure, alongside a broader cohort of administrative personnel drawn from the Sadar Upazila land office, the Siddhirganj revenue circle, and the Fatullah revenue circle.

Addressing the unfolding administrative inquiry, Rayhan Kabir remarked that not everyone might be equally culpable, noting that some individuals had indeed signed in advance while adding that the full picture would become clear only after a thorough investigation concludes. Meanwhile, all twenty implicated individuals have been officially directed to submit a formal written explanation regarding their actions within three working days.
