Chapai Nababganj Student Felicitation Event Highlights Employment Concerns

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir organized a special felicitation ceremony in Chapai Nababganj on August 28, 2026, to honor meritorious students who successfully obtained GPA-5 in their SSC, Dakhil, and equivalent examinations. The event, arranged by the Chapai Nababganj city branch of the organization, brought together prominent student leaders, educational achievers, and political figures to celebrate academic excellence.

The ceremony featured Sibgatullah Sibga, the Central Secretary General of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, who addressed the audience as the principal speaker. During his address, Sibgatullah Sibga sharply criticized government employment initiatives and recruitment practices. He stated that the administration had previously promised to secure employment for one crore people within 180 days, but has now shifted its stance to claim that such a target cannot be fulfilled within a single year, concluding that young people are continuously deceived.

Addressing the contentious issue of recruitment and governance, Sibgatullah Sibga further questioned the fairness of official hiring policies. He remarked that employment based strictly on merit was the fair expectation, yet alleged that authorities instead implemented a 56 percent quota system for appointments. He also raised allegations involving widespread financial corruption, pointing to claims of bribes ranging between ten lakh and twenty lakh taka in connection with the NTRCA.

The high-profile gathering was also attended by notable dignitaries from across the region and student leadership circles. Nurul Islam Bulbul, Member of Parliament for the Chapai Nababganj-3 (Sadar) constituency, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Additionally, Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) VP Sadiq Kayem participated in the event as a special guest, lending further significance to the student-focused felicitation program.

Throughout the event, speakers emphasized the importance of recognizing the hard work and academic achievements of the younger generation while simultaneously addressing broader socio-economic challenges facing the country.
