BSSTU students achieve major success at IT Carnival 2026 hackathon
Students from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University achieved notable success at the IT Carnival 2026 hackathon and programming contest. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Hasan later felicitated the winning teams for their remarkable performance.

Students from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSSTU) have achieved remarkable success at the recently concluded IT Carnival 2026, which featured competitive hackathons and programming contests. The multi-day academic and technological festival brought together talented student programmers and tech enthusiasts from various universities to demonstrate their innovative capabilities and technical expertise.
The event was officially organized by Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) and took place over three days, running from August 27 to August 29, 2026. During this competitive period, participating students engaged in rigorous technological challenges that tested their software development, problem-solving, and programming skills under strict deadlines.
In the main hackathon segment of the IT Carnival 2026, the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department students representing BSSTU secured the championship title. Their victorious team, competing under the official team name 'GSTU_Neuroblitzzzz', successfully outpaced rival groups from institutions including Patuakhali Science and Technology University, KUET, Khulna University, Barishal University, Islamic University, and Jashore University of Science and Technology to claim first place.
Additionally, another contingent of talented students from BSSTU participated in the PSTU Inter-University Programming Contest 2026 for the South Zone. Competing under the team name 'Team Jhalmuri', these students demonstrated exceptional algorithmic proficiency and secured a commendable second-place finish in the regional programming showdown.
Following their return to the campus, the successful students were formally received and honored by the university administration. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Hasan praised the participants for their dedication, hard work, and the prestige they brought to the academic institution through their outstanding technological accomplishments.
Expressing his utmost delight regarding the students' achievements, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Hasan stated that the students' success is a matter of immense joy and pride for the university. He further noted that such triumphs by BSSTU students in technology-dependent competitions will undoubtedly serve as a strong inspiration for achieving even greater milestones in the future.
