Bkash and Bishwo Shahitto Kendro Celebrate 12 Years of Reading Program

Bkash and Bishwo Shahitto Kendro have celebrated the 12th anniversary of their nationwide book-reading program partnership in an event held in Dhaka on September 4. The collaboration, which began in 2014, has successfully reached nearly 3,000 educational institutions across the country over the years.

During this 12-year journey, the nationwide initiative has distributed more than 400,000 books to students. Through these distributed books and related activities, the comprehensive reading program has benefited more than 3.2 million students and enthusiastic readers nationwide.

Reflecting on the long-standing partnership, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro founder Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed stated, "If Bkash had invested this money elsewhere, it might have been a bit more profitable from a business perspective. But instead of doing that, by investing it here, I do not know if Bkash has profited, but the nation has profited."

Highlighting the social challenges facing the youth, Dr. A. N. M. Ehsanul Haq Milan emphasized the importance of literature in modern times. He remarked, "To rescue the new generation from the addiction to mobile phones and drugs, the habit of reading books must be built up."

Speaking about the core philosophy driving the corporate collaboration, Bkash CEO Kamal Kader noted the importance of intellectual growth for the country's future. He stated, "Education and the practice of knowledge are among the foundational pillars of sustainable development—it is from this belief that Bkash has been associated with Bishwo Shahitto Kendro's book-reading program for the past 12 years."

The anniversary celebration in Dhaka was attended by several notable figures, including Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Dr. A. N. M. Ehsanul Haq Milan, Kamal Kader, Major General Sheikh Md. Monirul Islam (Retd.), and Khondoker Md. Asaduzzaman, marking a significant milestone for the nationwide educational partnership.
