Bilkis-Alam Library Foundation Stone Laid in Comilla's Chouddagram

The foundation stone of the newly established Bilkis-Alam Library has been officially laid in Komalla village, located within the Gholpasha union of Chouddagram upazila in the Comilla district. The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday afternoon, marking a significant cultural and intellectual development for the local community in the area.

Chouddagram Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahadat Hossain attended the event and formally inaugurated the library as the chief guest. During the programme, the UNO emphasized the critical need for youth engagement in literature, culture, and sports to keep society free from drug abuse. Noting that he regularly contemplates how to connect young people with books and guide them toward a pure lifestyle, he stated that library activities can play an extremely helpful role in achieving this objective. Furthermore, he urged guardians to bring their children to libraries and encourage them to develop the habit of reading books.

Addressing the broader social impact of such institutions, Ahmed Maowla delivered remarks highlighting the irreplaceable value of reading. He asserted that there is no alternative to reading books in order to advance society, noting that libraries serve as the primary arena for fostering this habit. According to him, the cultural and intellectual condition of any given society can largely be understood by observing how sincere that society is toward its libraries. He additionally stressed that privately initiated organizations like the Bilkis-Alam Library must be viewed with great importance, asserting that alongside the administration, responsible and affluent members of society ought to stand beside such institutions.

Expanding on the potential of grassroots cultural initiatives, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahadat Hossain assured that the administration will endeavor to extend cooperation to advance social and cultural ventures comparable to the Bilkis-Alam Library. The establishment of this facility in Komalla village brings together various local stakeholders and community figures who share a commitment to fostering education and intellectual growth within the region.

The inaugural event was attended by a notable gathering of local personalities, including Maulana Nurul Alam Khan, Imran Mahফুজ, Ahmed Maowla, Mosharraf Hossain, Md. Ahsan Ullah, Sirajul Islam Farayeji, Md. Emdad Ullah, Belal Hossain, Abu Bakar Sujan, Aminul Islam, A. K. M. Shamsul Haque, and Maulana Mobarak Bin Alam. Representatives and members from organizations such as the Bilkis-Alam Library, Comilla University, Chouddagram Press Club, and Komalla Ebtedayee Swatantra Madrasa were also present to witness the laying of the foundation stone.
