BFF-Samakal National Science Debate Festival Held Across Seven Districts

The 12th district-level BFF-Samakal National Science Debate Festival was successfully held yesterday, Sunday, across seven different districts, including Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Gaibandha, Dinajpur, Naogaon, Natore, and Nilphamari. The nationwide festival, operating under the core event theme that debate means reason and science brings freedom, brought together numerous educational institutions to engage in intellectual discourse and scientific reasoning.

In the Rajshahi district leg of the competition, Siroil Government High School emerged as the champion. The event was attended by prominent figures such as Shafiqul Haque Milon, Member of Parliament for Rajshahi-3; Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, Chairman of the Rajshahi Development Authority; Fouzia Adib Flora, Professor at Rajshahi University; Faruk Hossain, Additional Commissioner of City Police; Gaziur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Police; Md Ibrahim Ali, Principal of Rajshahi College; Mazharul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer; Abdul Matin, District Education Officer; Biplob Kumar Majumdar, Professor; and Syed Mozaharul Islam, Professor.

Meanwhile, in Chapainawabganj, Fulkuri Islamic Academy claimed the championship title following a competitive round that saw participation from 19 schools across Shibganj, Gomostapur, and Sadar upazilas. Across all participating districts, exactly eight teams took part from each individual district to showcase their debating prowess and scientific knowledge before local dignitaries and educators.

In Gaibandha, BIAM Laboratory School and College secured the championship title. The Gaibandha event was attended by Hedaayetul Islam, Additional District Commissioner (General) of Gaibandha; Md Abdur Rashid, Principal of Gaibandha Government College; Shahabul Shahain Tota, Journalist; and Rafikul Islam Rafik, Journalist. Concurrently, Parbatipur Cantonment Public School and College triumphed as the champion in Dinajpur, with proceedings witnessed by Fatima Yasmin, Lecturer; Sultan Kamal Uddin Bachchu, President of Dinajpur Sammilita Sangskritik Jote; Shahnewaz Firoz Shuvo Shah, Lawyer; and Mahmudur Rahman, Journalist.

The district tournaments continued with Krishnadhan (KD) Government High School winning the championship in Naogaon. The Naogaon event hosted distinguished guests including Mohammad সাইফুল ইসলাম, Deputy Commissioner of Naogaon; Md Masudul Haq, Additional District Commissioner (General); Mohammad Tarikul Islam, Superintendent of Police; Khairul Alam Sabuz, Drama personality; Enamul Haque, Bird expert; and Rostom Ali Helali, District Secondary Education Officer. In Natore, Collectorate Public School and College achieved the champion status, supported by figures such as Biman Gobinda Sarker, Teacher; Md Mostafizur Rahman, Principal; Md Shaheen Akter, President; MR Alam Jhontu, Journalist; and Sadikul Islam Sadik, Journalist.

Finally, Alfaruk Academy captured the championship title in Nilphamari. Throughout the festival across the various regions, several individuals were recognized as the best speakers of the events, including Miftahul Islam, Jihad Ali, ASM Arash Salehien, Fahmida Faizah, MM Taha, Umme Saima Sheikh, and Abdullah Danian. The overarching festival was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF), Samakal, Suhrid Samabesh, and Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC.
