Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia Discuss Stronger Military Partnership in Dhaka

The Prime Minister's Defence Adviser, Brigadier General (retd) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, has held a significant courtesy meeting with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh, Dr. Abdullah Jaafar bin Abyah. The high-level diplomatic and military engagement took place on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Office of the Defence Adviser located within the Armed Forces Division at Dhaka Cantonment.

During the official discussions held at the military headquarters, both dignitaries engaged in comprehensive talks concerning bilateral relations and mutual strategic interests between the governments of Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. The primary focus of the meeting centered on exploring new avenues to further solidify and expand the existing framework of military partnership between the two nations.

A major emphasis during the dialogue was placed on enhancing the professional capabilities of the armed forces personnel from both countries. To achieve this objective, the discussions highlighted the critical need to intensify cooperation regarding specialized training programs and the reciprocal exchange of various professional military courses.
