Bangladesh has recorded five additional deaths linked to measles symptoms over a recent 24-hour period, according to official figures released on Tuesday afternoon by the Directorate General of Health Services. This latest toll contributes to a mounting regional health crisis that has severely affected children across the country over the past several months.

Health authorities reported that a total of 1,077 children were infected with measles and its associated symptoms during the same 24-hour timeframe. This daily surge highlights the persistent transmission and ongoing severity of the outbreak within local communities throughout Bangladesh.

The cumulative impact of the outbreak since March 15 reflects a staggering loss of young lives. Official data confirms that 844 children have died specifically with measles symptoms during this period, while another 99 children have succumbed to confirmed cases of measles, bringing the total recorded fatalities to 943.

Hospital admissions and discharges have remained exceptionally high as medical facilities grapple with the influx of patients. Since March 15, a total of 1,32,554 patients have been hospitalized due to the illness, placing a heavy burden on the healthcare infrastructure.

Despite the high volume of severe cases requiring inpatient care, recovery rates offer a measure of relief amid the crisis. Official statistics confirm that 1,27,811 patients have successfully received their medical clearance and been discharged to return home since the outbreak began.
