Bangladesh Launches 3-Month Nationwide Anti-Dengue Clean-Up Campaign

The strategic gathering brought together key government figures and organizational representatives to address the growing public health challenge posed by mosquito-borne diseases in the country.
Building on the discussions held during Tuesday's session, authorities announced that a comprehensive three-month special cleanliness and public awareness program will officially commence this coming Saturday, September 12. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate this extensive nationwide anti-dengue drive personally.
Addressing the pressing public health concerns, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized that managing the current crisis requires moving beyond traditional methods. He stated that controlling dengue cannot rely solely on mosquito eradication efforts, but must place a special emphasis on overall cleanliness and widespread public awareness.
To ensure the success of this large-scale initiative, the Prime Minister called for a coordinated field-level approach involving local administrations, volunteer organizations, and students. By actively engaging these diverse community sectors, the government aims to maximize the impact of the preventive measures across the country.
Highlighting the urgency of the timeframe, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman noted that the upcoming three months are particularly critical for the nation's dengue situation. He stressed that during this vulnerable period, the active participation of the general public must be ensured alongside government-led interventions.
As part of the extensive public outreach strategy, citizens will be strongly encouraged to keep their homes, educational institutions, public and private facilities, and surrounding areas clean on a regular basis. The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, along with various entities including the City Corporation, Dhaka South City Corporation, Scouts, Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), Girl Guides, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, and notable officials such as Mostofa Zulfikar Hasan, Asadul Habib Dulu, Andaliv Rahman Partha, Mir Shahe Alam, Dr. M. A. Muhit, Yasser Khan Chowdhury, Dr. S. M. Ziauddin Haider, Nasimul Ghani, A. B. M. Abdus Sattar, Dr. Shakirul Islam Khan, Abdus Salam, and Mahbuba Farzana, remain aligned with the broader national framework aimed at mitigating the spread of the disease.
