Bangladesh Samabaya Bank Holds 49th General Meeting in Dhaka

Bangladesh Samabaya Bank Limited has officially held its 49th general meeting on September 8, 2026, bringing together key officials and stakeholders at the multipurpose hall room of the Department of Cooperatives located in Agargaon, Dhaka. The high-profile gathering served as a platform to review the operational trajectory and broader socio-economic goals of the financial institution.

Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, graced the event as the chief guest, delivering key directives regarding the bank's core mission and operational philosophy. Also present at the deliberations were Dr. Rafiqul I Mohamed and Md. Selim Fakir, contributing to the administrative discourse alongside other dignitaries.

Addressing the assembly, Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan emphasized that the fundamental objective of cooperatives is not merely the pursuit of profit, but rather the crucial task of ensuring the economic liberation of impoverished and underprivileged populations. However, he concurrently stressed that alongside maintaining social responsibility, it remains imperative for the bank to strictly adhere to financial discipline and established rules and regulations in order to ensure its long-term survival.

The Minister also issued a strong warning against financial delinquency within the institution, declaring that the culture of taking loans and subsequently failing to repay them is completely unacceptable. While noting that genuine problems arising from natural disasters or other realistic circumstances would be considered sympathetically and handled humanely, he firmly stated that intentionally defaulting by diverting loan funds to unrelated purposes will not be tolerated.

The proceedings of the 49th general meeting were officially presided over by Prodip Kumar Mohottam, Additional Secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division. Under his chairmanship, attendees engaged in comprehensive evaluations of the bank's administrative framework, policy implementation, and future strategies aligned with the mandates of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
