The government of Bangladesh has officially extended the deadline for motor vehicle document and driving licence renewals, allowing vehicle owners to complete their updates without incurring any financial penalties. This significant administrative decision was announced to provide relief to citizens seeking to regularize their vehicular documentation under more accommodating conditions.

According to the new directive, vehicle owners and motorists are now permitted to update essential credentials—including motor vehicle fitness certificates, tax tokens, route permits, and driving licences—until the 29th of October of the current year. To benefit from this penalty-free extension, applicants are only required to pay the standard principal taxes and prescribed official fees.

The policy change was formalized and made public on Sunday through an official gazette notification. The formal announcement was issued by the Road Transport and Highways Division, which operates under the broader umbrella of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.

This latest regulatory update reflects administrative coordination within the highest levels of the public administration, following decisions that also involved the Finance Division of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The extension offers a crucial window for transport operators and private vehicle owners to ensure full legal compliance without the burden of late fees.
