The Election Commission (EC) of Bangladesh is publishing the final voter list on Monday, August 31, ahead of the upcoming local government elections. This official release follows the publication of the draft voter list, which was earlier made public on August 9.

According to the latest update released by the authorities, the country has recorded an increase of 309,315 new voters during this revision process. With this notable addition, the total number of registered voters across Bangladesh now stands at 128,632,555 individuals.

Building upon the release of this finalized electoral roll, the Election Commission has outlined its schedule for grassroots democratic exercises. The commission intends to officially commence the upcoming local government elections starting from the month of November.

As part of the strategic roadmap for these upcoming polls, the election authorities have specific sequencing plans in place. The current administrative plan prioritizes holding elections for both union councils and municipalities in the initial phases before proceeding with other local body contests.

The comprehensive update and finalization of the voter database mark a critical operational milestone for the Election Commission. These preparations ensure that the electoral infrastructure is fully ready to accommodate the nationwide local government polls slated to begin later this year.
