Armed Gang Ties Up Guards and Loots Multiple Shops in Khoksa

A brazen nighttime raid on Ekatpur Bazar in Khoksa, Bangladesh, has left local business owners counting their losses after a large group of armed individuals descended upon the commercial area. According to verified details from the scene, the incident took place during the late-night hours, with the perpetrators entering the marketplace around 1 a.m. local time. Witnesses and local sources estimated that the gang consisted of approximately 20 to 20 silver-to-gold proportioned attackers who systematically terrorized the area before fleeing the location.

During the operation, the armed group targeted five distinct commercial establishments within the market. The affected businesses include Purna Jewellers, Manik Jewellers, Ishani Beauty Cosmetics, a mobile van shop belonging to Abdul Hannan Sheikh, and a tea stall operated by Obaidul. The criminals ransacked these properties, making off with valuables including approximately 20 bhori of silver and 25,000 taka in cash from the affected locations, causing significant financial distress to the local merchants who have operated in the area for years.

The perpetrators utilized aggressive tactics to secure the area while they carried out the plunder. Market watchman Ohidul Islam detailed that there are typically five guards on duty in the marketplace to ensure security. During this specific raid, the attackers managed to detain four of the guards, holding them captive while the looting continued unchecked for approximately two and a half hours. The scale of the operation highlighted a severe vulnerability in the market's overnight security arrangements.

The aftermath of the raid was discovered in the early hours of the morning. Pranotosh Biswas, one of the affected individuals, recounted receiving a phone call from a local resident around 4:30 a.m. informing him about the breach at his shop. Upon rushing to the market, Biswas found the shop shutters closed, but upon forcing entry, discovered the extent of the devastation and looting inside his business premises.

Local authorities responded to the initial situation when police visited the crime scene during the night, though victims noted that a formal case had not yet been registered. Meanwhile, Khoksa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Molla Zakir Hossain provided a differing perspective on the incident. The police official stated that three shops were targeted in Ekatpur Bazar and asserted that the nighttime episode was one hundred percent a case of theft rather than armed robbery.
