Woman Dies by Suicide on Video Call with Husband in Jhalakathi
A 28-year-old woman in Jhalakathi's Rajapur upazila died by suicide while on a video call with her husband. The couple had married about a year ago following an introduction on Facebook.
A 28-year-old woman named Rabeya Begum died by suicide on Thursday, August 20, around 11:00 am in Charakhali village under Galua union of Rajapur upazila in Jhalakathi district. According to the verified details of the incident, Rabeya wrapped a scarf around her neck inside the residence, leading to the tragic outcome.
At the exact time of the incident, Rabeya was engaged in a mobile phone video call with her husband, Md. Hridoy. The couple's relationship began through an introduction on Facebook, which eventually led to their marriage approximately one year prior to the tragic event.
Following the incident, Rabeya was promptly transported to the emergency department of the Rajapur Upazila Health Complex for medical attention. However, upon arrival and subsequent examination, the attending physician on duty officially declared her dead.
Local law enforcement and medical authorities subsequently processed the situation according to standard legal procedures. The body was recovered from the health facility and transferred to the Jhalakathi morgue to undergo a thorough post-mortem examination.
In connection with the tragic death, an unnatural death case has been formally registered at the local police station. Authorities are continuing to handle the case following the protocols established for such incidents.
