A young woman has been arrested in Mymensingh following an attack and extortion attempt at a veterinarian's chamber. A local Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader has also been expelled in connection with the incident.

Police in Mymensingh have arrested a young woman named Arfin Rashid, also known as Afrin Rashid Sejuti, in connection with an incident where a veterinarian's chamber was entered and the practitioner was physically assaulted. The violent episode took place in Mymensingh town on August 23, 2026, targeting veterinarian Ashikur Rahman inside his professional establishment.
According to the official complaint lodged by victim Ashikur Rahman at the Kotwali Model Police Station, the perpetrators demanded a substantial sum of five lakh taka in extortion money. The formal police case details the threats and financial demands made during the confrontation at the veterinarian's chamber, prompting an immediate investigation by local law enforcement authorities under the Mymensingh District Police.
As the legal proceedings advanced through the Kotwali Model Police Station, the political wing of the local opposition movement took swift disciplinary action. Talhajur Rahman, who served as the joint general secretary of the Mahanagar Chhatra Dal, was officially expelled from the organization due to his alleged direct involvement in the assault and extortion scheme targeting the medical professional.
The ongoing investigation involves several other individuals whose names were documented in connection with the case file at the Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station. Alongside the arrested Arfin Rashid and the expelled Talhajur Rahman, the police records and related organizational documents note the involvement of Harun Or Rashid, Ishan Ahmed, Sajnin Tasnin Siddiqui, Mohammad Shibirul Islam, and Md. Abdullah Al-Mamun.
